UPCOMING NEXTEXEC EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

Summer Softball | B-CC NextExec Team

Game locations
Games will be held at a number of locations within a 7 mile radius of downtown Bethesda. Here is a list of fields and directions.

The fireworks started early as the BCC NextExec softball team (The Chamber Bats) got their first victory this past Tuesday (July 3rd) with a 7-5 win.  Team captain Alex Assaley expects this to be a recurring theme.  In a defensive battle, our players looked eager and poised.  David Viertels pitched a masterpiece with an unprecedented 6+ strikeouts, which we assume is some type of slow-pitch softball record.  The team hopes to continue their winning next week at 7 PM - at Wheaton Forest park off of University Boulevard in Wheaton and welcomes all to come out and cheer us on, then join the team for Happy Hour afterwards at league sponsor bars and chamber members - Union Jacks and Caddie's on Cordell.

For more information, please contact the Chamber office at (301) 652-4900 or Alex Assaley, AFS Financial Group at (301) 961-8401 or [email protected]

RECAP OF PAST NEXTEXEC EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

Community Service: "Psychiatrically Disabled Workers' Path to Employment" | June 2007
The NextExec Committee of the B-CC partnered with St. Luke's House and presented the "Psychiatrically Disabled Workers' Path to Employment" workshop at The Church in Bethesda on June 13th. At the event, NextExec volunteers teamed with members of St. Luke's to coach psychiatrically disabled community members on various aspects of an employment search. Volunteers explained the necessary skills for various jobs, critiqued resumes accordingly, and engaged in mock interviews with participants in order to provide feedback.

Children's Inn at NIH Visit | December 12, 2006
The NextExec Committee volunteered at the Children's Inn at the NIH's WINNter Wonderland (www.childrensinn.org) WINNter Wonderland is a room filled with gifts, and each child staying at The Inn has an opportunity to choose up to four gifts with the assistance of a volunteer. These gifts are not for themselves, but for a loved one. Once they've chosen 4 gifts, the volunteers helped wrap them.

Verizon Center/Washington Capitals | November 30, 2006
The NextExecs visited the Verizon Center for an evening of networking and hockey. Our NextExecs were honored with a visit and presentation by Ted Leonsis, Vice Chairman of AOL LLC and majority owner of the Washington Capitals. Leonsis provided the audience with advice on how to balance career and family, and shared with them his career parth and the steps he took to become Chairman of AOL and owner of an NHL hockey franchise. The sold out crowd first met for drinks and appetizers at the pre-party, sponsored by AXIA Advisors and Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Home, in the Dewar's Lounge, where Leonsis spoke.

Many thanks to our sponsors and to Punchai Paul Vutiprichar, NextExec Committee Members and Financial Consultant for AXA Advisors, for playing a leading role in planning this exciting event.

NextExec Luncheon | March 28, 2006
The inaugural NextExec luncheon was a huge success! The large crowd of young professionals enjoyed listening to Emmy Award winning Weathercaster, Sue Palka, Fox 5 News, as they noshed on delicious Italian food at Maggiano's Little Italy. Palka's speech was not only motivational, but humorous and educational as well. With over 85 people in attendance, it was the perfect atmosphere for networking among Bethesda-Chevy Chase's upcoming executives.
