Chamber job opening - July/August 2003

The Greater Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce is seeking an outstanding individual for the immediate opening of the full-time position of MARKETING, EVENTS, AND PROGRAM MANAGER . This person must be an energetic team player with common sense, enthusiasm, excellent people skills, highly organized and unflappable. Responsible for planning and administration of all Chamber events; marketing and program support of Chamber committees and activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing:

Responsible for promotion of all programs, events and activities of the Chamber. Responsibilities include proactively promoting the Chamber to the press and the community; writing and designing Chamber marketing and communications materials, including Chamber newsletter, special events and seminar information and registration forms; calendars and press releases, as well as updating of information and calendar on the Chamberís website (HTML training to be provided).

Events:

Coordinate and administer all monthly Chamber events, including power networking breakfasts, membership lunches, business after hours; coordinate and administer all Special Events and monthly seminars. Serves as liaison between Chamber and events facilities. Shared staff responsibility for working with and recruiting locations, hosts and sponsors for events; responsible for marketing and promotion of all events.

Administration:

Respond to telephone inquiries by providing information or referring to knowledgeable sources. Enter registrations for events and tracking of all related budgets. Greet visitors and maintain orderly reception area, conference room and kitchen.

Committee Support:

Primary staff contact and support for special events committees, Seminar Marketing & Communications Task Force; shared staff support for Technology Resources Committee.

Other:

Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

College degree with marketing or special events major desirable or equivalent experience.

Experience:

Minimum 1 year experience; event management; sales or specific fundraising experience desirable.

Skills:

Demonstrated writing proficiency necessary. Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including telephone skills. Must be a self-starter, detail-oriented, work independently, meet deadlines, professional appearance and demeanor; ability to communicate well with Chamber leadership,members, and staff.
