Your mother falls and breaks her hip ... Your father has a stroke … Your parent can't handle the daily concerns of living alone in their house anymore … What are your next steps? Where do you go for the right resources to help your parents and to help you?
To address these concerns and many more of adult children of seniors, the Chamber's Senior Services Forum has developed this first in a series of "Aging Hits Home," for adult children and family members interested in learning about resources for senior services.
The Seminar Series will kick off on Friday, March 8th with "Personal Reflections and Professional Advice" Moderated by Senior Seminars Chair Linda Beer, CRS, Seniors Real Estate Specialist with Long & Foster's Bethesda Gateway office, the program will feature Priscilla Thayer Brandon, Editor of Kiplinger's Retirement Report and Judy Bernstein, LCSW, Geriatric Care Manager, Suburban Hospital.
Brandon will offer her personal and professional perspective on the basic tools you need to help a relative who can no longer manage his or her own affairs, and Bernstein will discuss the issues, needs and resources available from the perspective of an adult child whose parent is in a crisis situation, and needs to know the right resources to help their parent.
