Description: - The Department of Environmental Protection and a Certified Green Business representative will discuss the Montgomery County Green Business Certification Program and its benefits to businesses. The program is designed to assist and recognize businesses taking voluntary steps to go above and beyond basic green measures to reduce their ecological footprint. Program emphasis is on day to day operations and policies, as distinct from Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) certification, which focuses mainly on building construction and major systems.
- An instructor from Montgomery College will outline the new Sustainability Practitioner Certificate which can be earned through Montgomery College beginning this fall. Students must complete a semester-long introductory course (12 weeks, online) and a concentration of classes in the student’s chosen specialty (green marketing, sustainable supply chain, or green and renewable energy). The College is seeking feedback from the business community regarding this new Certificate, particularly as it relates to the concentration classes that are most relevant to the business community and could possibly be offered.
- Bethesda Green, through the collaborative efforts of businesses, government and residents, is the catalyze and trusted resource to build a healthy and sustainable community. Bethesda Green has a green education center and business incubator and works closely with the Chamber and businesses to implement innovative sustainable solutions.
